Circle Report - Run 1821
The Over The Hill Run
It was a large group who assembled at the top of Kent Ridge Park for this run to celebrate Not Tonites Birthday. Stiffy even managed to get a group of American Marines along, who as we are all now aware are not to be confused with Seamen!
Off we went down the side of Kent Ridge at break neck speed and across the flats before we encountered the new pedestrian connector bridge/boardwalks. Up onto this was a logical choice, but it wasn’t long before the trail took us down again and along a bush trail somewhere above the Handlebar.
The wiser runners stayed up on the boardwalk because it wasn’t long before we had to climb a hefty set of steps up onto the boardwalk again. Along the boardwalk but off it at Telok Blangah for a bit of road running only to have to climb another monstrous set of steps up onto the boardwalk. I can only assume that the likes of Tiger Lily actually ran all the way up, but by this stage I was too far back to see, and I know everyone around me was walking.
Finally getting to the top, it was feared that we may have to do a loop around Mt Faber, but fortunately a T turned us around in the direction of home. Some wonderful boardwalk running led us back to the bottom of Kent Ridge where we were faced with the obligatory climb back to the beer track.
What did we think of the run? Too many bridges, not enough steps, too many marines! Overwhelmingly a good run! Well done Hares.
The Circle did take place, and this is about all I can remember.
We must have sung Happy Birthday.
Goody Bags gave lots of lipstick kisses to the marines
And the usual bullshit and frivolity took place.
My memory fails me after this
Promise I will write up the circle for this special run when I get back to Singapore
Sorry Jo!!
