Circle Report - Run 1848
Harriets 35th Anniversary Run
Changi Sailing Club Pulau Ubin
Run Report:
We are sailing, we are sailing, across the water, across the sea, we are sailing stormy waters, for the 35th anniversary! A fine sunny day in Pulau Ubin and we assembled in the town square awaiting the arrival of several bus loads of Malaysians whose drivers had got lost in Changi. 2 minutes to 5, everyone is here, woops hang on, no committee person to start the run. No problem, CR steps in and on on onto the beach. The boy scouts and girl guides gave us a standing ovation as we ran through their camp site. Who were those 2 native warriors? Soon it was into the bush for the start of what turned out to be a rather muddy and slippery run. It was a long way to the first T check. Up a slippery hill through the bush and then down again, which was even harder than going up, resulting in a few muddy bums. Past a wild pig trap, thankfully the hares hadnt placed a can of beer in it to trap a thirsty Hasher. SC, on her 2nd run had considerable trouble keeping her footing along a very slippery and difficult embankment and ended up with a very muddy bum. Then it was across a death trap bridge, consisting of 2 very old, thin and rather rotten wood planks. Dont stand on the left one..I mean the right one, warns Alcoholiday, forcing the person behind him to make a quick switch from the right plank to the left one. You would think by his age he would know his right and left! Lots more jungle and bush trails and a few Hasher friendly bridges. A wave to a couple of bemused local fishermen before finally emerging from the forest to the long/short split. The short followed a nice scenic road back to the village while the long did some more nice bush trails before finally hitting the shoreline for a bit of beach and mangrove running. Short runners were back around the hour while the long runners were in 20 minutes later.
After a nice cold drink from Basket Case, it was back to the jetty for the ferry back. Dont pay the Ferryman till he gets you to the other side was the call for the 1st ferry. Unfortunately the ferryman would not have a part of that and refused to leave the dock until we paid him!
A wet Circle was then held back at the Changi Sailing Club, and for those that were in the pool when the GM made the call of Gather round it was a very wet circle.
What did we think of the run?
This was a very good run, no doubt about it. Well done Hares, top stuff.
Tell us about your On On.
Right here at the Sailing Club, and it was bloody good.
Visitors and returnees;
There were many of course, from Singapore, Malaysia (by the bus loads) Shanghai, USA , Australia and of course Boob A Lube from the Philipines whos flight from Manila to Bangkok was diverted to Singapore instead. Welcome everyone.
Next week;
Wednesday, The Wedding Run
The firm Tits:
Kept under wraps tonight.
Lipstick:
A few lucky guys, including Boo, received lippy kisses from Goody Bags and Original from Malaysia. Wow, Im sure I was in front at one stage too!
AOB:
- All the visiting GMs were brought in for a drink.
- The GM was trying to contact Octopussy all afternoon, important business to discuss. Rang and rang and rang but no answer. Finally she gets through, only to hear Octopussy say abruptly Driving and promptly hung up. And we thought Harriets were good at multi tasking, especially when one of the tasks is talking!
- Wet Pet was with Octopussy 5 minutes into the run when Octopussy exclaimed, Oh no, Im wearing the wrong bra! Well, at least she was wearing one then.
- Numbutt gets Original in who believed that as Singapore was closer to the Equator than JB then the sun must be more damaging and so she ran with a sarong draped over her head.
- Boob a Lube found that Boo has not changed his ways and was calling On on even when he was short cutting, which was most of the way.
- Boob a Lube had contacted Jack Off a few days ago and told her he would come to the run a s long as he got a T shirt. So when he arrived at registration today he said wheres my shirt? And Jack Offs reply Fuck off!
- Boob a Lube then charges a Thai look a like. Why cant he charge a real Thai girl, such as his fiance? Because shes stranded in Bangkok because the airports are closed.
- Numbutt points out that Singaporeans are well known for being kiasu, but today we had a Malaysian turn up at Pulua Ubin at 2pm, then wondering why there was no one there retuned to Changi. Nothing like being first.
- Boo then takes over and commences Cultural hour by getting the different Malay chapters in to sing a song.
- The first song was Bin Chi Chi, which for censorship reasons is better not translated into English!
- DOM (Dirty Old Man) and company then sang a song about white woman slept with me. Hai nam nam
- Kulang JB Hash did a very quick number
- Finally Gunung Lambak sang the trishaw song
All very culturally entertaining, well done.
And with that,
On on on to more drinks and food.
Highlights of the evening, - The great food
- Abba
- Acknowledgement of Kamala, aka Sybil, who joined the Harriets in 1973.
- Twin Towers and Goody Bags dirty dancing
- The Malaysians skit
- The acknowledgement of the current Harriets
- The GM and friends from Shangai who misread the web site and got tonights activities mixed up with Lion Cities D&D LAST Saturday night and came with Colonial period clothing for a dress up,
- The wild dumping into the pool of anyone and everyone who had dry clothes on at the end of the night. Believe me, no one was spared.
Well done and thank you to the organizers and sponsors.
