Hareline and Setting Runs

We are a small club and each member is expected to do their bit to help the club thrive.  Each member is expected to set a minimum of two runs per year.  If you are inexperienced or feel uncomfortable with this, please approach a member of the committee, who will help you team up with an experienced hasher to help you out.  Please also check out our hints on how to set a run.

Hares are asked to get their run site details to the On Sec at least a week before the run date. Please also be precise in your description of the location.

Hares are needed (see hareline for available dates). Please see Posh Nash to arrange to set your two runs this year.

Inappropriate Run Sites

Singapore Harriets is a registered society in Singapore (as required) and it is important that members observe the law and exercise good judgement in our runs.  30 or more runners can cause alarm to the public and we need to keep a low profile.  Lion City Hash have a guidebook containing good suggestions on how to minimize our impact, we recommend you take a look.

National Parks

National Parks and local Hash chapters have been meeting recently to work out a code of conduct for hash activities in parks.  This is still to be formally communicated but hares must be extremely careful with any activities in National Parks.  The following common-sense approaches apply:

  1. You must discuss any run in a potentially sensitive area with the GM well in advance of your run (suggest at least two weeks).
  2. You must be given permission by National Parks, through the GM, to set any part of a run in a National Park.
  3. You may not use flour or chalk within a national park.
  4. You may use small amounts of toilet paper to mark the trail providing you commit to collecting the paper within 24 hours.
  5. If you decide to collect paper while sweeping the run, please make sure you aren't leaving anyone stranded behind you.
  6. You must stay on marked and established trails within a park (no off trail running).

Use of Lock Road Car Park (opposite Little Bali)

Please note that the Lock Road car park is now a private car park for Little Bali. On a Wednesday run (11 June 2008), the landlords of Little Bali told us they would not allow the beer wagon to remain in the car park, and they were insistent that the car park was for patrons only. Lock Road car park is therefore not allowed for hash use UNLESS you have the specific, prior permission of the landlord, Robin, who can be contacted at 9672-7356 or by email robin@littlebali.com .
