Your scribe walked to the run site from Boon Keng MRT and was surprised to see that he was walking past the OnOn venue which had just been posted in the chat. At the same time, he was even more surprised to see that the hares were already at the OnOn venue at 5.30pm, clearly pre-loading well in advance of the arrival of Mr Lim.

Perhaps that contributed to the slight sense of chaos before the run even started? We had new hashers, a visitor from Bahrain (Slither) and many of the usual suspects***. A few people found that transport dropped them in different places, and the painters of the HDB had roped off much of the carpark. But we were able to get underway not long after 6pm and a core of runners set off following a well-marked chalk trail, supplemented by wood chips when we hit patches of grass. One very clever, nearly-touching loop near the corner of Towner Rd and McNair Rd had some us cursing the hares’ cleverness but that, combined with the checks, kept most of us close together.

We crossed the CTE, ran and ran a bit more, got T checked by the Kallang River / PIE, then found our way to the CTE underpass that got us nearly home. There we bumped into Pale Rider, a Seletar hasher, out on his nightly stroll. We convinced him to come back to the circle, thus adding a bit more to Will Come Soon’s collections for the evening!

After a great circle, we decamped back to the On On – despite having run close to it, half the circle struggled to find it when walking after a few beers, but eventually most people found it. Great run – thanks hares!

* Note: The usual suspects excluded Run DMC who, after his weekend efforts, may still be struggling to walk unaided to the bathroom.
